Today we finally discovered the source of Grair’s ongoing illness. His sinuses are badly infected. Without having a little guy that can explain what’s going on, it took a CT scan to discover the problem. He’s likely had the issue since the beginning, and the antibiotics helped but hadn’t eradicated the problem. He’ll be on antibiotics for three weeks.

The best part, though, is that Grair got to come home today! So, we went from a near guarantee to being in the hospital until the new year to coming home after two days.

The next good news — provided this is the only source of infection — is that we can move forward with the heart valve stint in early January. Ideally we’ll be able to get that in, stay overnight and be clear for another year.

One of the benefits of having conservative doctors is the quick and full-court press treatments. However, they have a tendency to scare the hell out of us at times. This appears to have been a situation where we planned for the worst, but hoped for the best. Thankfully our hopes came true.

I’d like to thank everyone for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers over the past few days. Speaking for our entire family, we appreciate the support.
