In my last post I made mention to explaining the plan to fix Grair’s heart and what the problem is. Since the last post, much has happened and a need to perform surgery quickly is required. Therefore, this is a quick post to explain a bit about the surgery.
Grair has three abnormalities of his heart. He has a hole in between the two lower pumping chambers of the heart which is causing blue blood and red blood to mix. He his also missing the valves in his pulmonary tube. Third, the left pulmonary tube that goes to his lung is missing. All of these items can be fixed.
However, his right pulmonary tube is dialated because it is doing all the work (the left is missing). This has caused the tube to push against Grair’s airways, causing him troubles in his lungs. From what we are told, this is a bigger issue than the heart. Unfortunatly, the extent can not be determined until the heart is fixed.
Dr. James Hammell will be performing the surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon on Grair’s heart. We have trust in fait in his abilities, and pray that all goes as planned with this surgery.
Please keep us in your prayers, as tomorrow promises to be a long, but crucual day to getting Grair closer to healthy.
