Late last night, during a car seat test to determine if Grair was going to weigh enough to use his seat, a few health issues started to show. Earlier in the day, the pediatrician was concerned about a heart murmur. During the car seat test, it became evident that Grair’s blood oxygen level was low, an indication the murmur was extensive. He was taken to the NICU, where more tests were run, including an EKG. During this test, a pediatric cardeologist was called in where she discovered issues with Grair’s heart. It turns out during his active heart growing stages in mom’s womb (the first four weeks), all the connections of the heart were not placed correctly. Furthermore, a seperation exists between two of the chambers that is causing issues with blood flow between the lungs and the heart (hence the lack of oxygen in the blood stream).

Upon determining the abnormallities, Grair was transported to Children’s Hospital in Omaha, were more tests are taking place. It is likely Grair will be going through multiple heart surgeries, however we don’t know the full extent of the issues yet.

Melissa and I are in Omaha, and will be here as long as needed. Keep Grair and our family in your prayers and we’ll use this channel to update more information as it becomes available.
