Grair is home!
We were able to come home yesterday afternoon with Grair, and have begun to settle into life at home with two children (something we originally had planned to do three weeks ago). And after many doctor consultations, we are without oxygen! He looks just like a regular newborn coming home from the hospital, with a chest-long incision.
The next few months will require a new level of detail with Grair’s recovery. More doctors will be added to our speed dials: Dr. Martin, our pediatric cardiologist and an immunologist (we haven’t met). Monthly visits and checkups with these doctors and our pediatrician will be necessary to make sure Grair is growing and developing as expected. In fact, our first doctor visit is this evening. Our pediatrician, a close friend of the family, will be making a special house-call to check-up on Grair.
We are excited to have Grair at home (although still quite nervous since a nurse isn’t always within 10 feet), and we are looking forward to attempting to settle back into a normal routine.
Thank you to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers for Grair and our family. We appreciate all our friends and family and look forward to introducing each and everyone to Grair in the near future — as long as you aren’t sick. 🙂
